    Carpenter

    The Position  

    Carpenter (Full-Time)                                                                                            

    FirCrest Developments Ltd. is a Licensed Residential Builder, A+ BBB accredited business, and widely recognized brand in the Greater Vancouver area. Additionally, FirCrest is a member of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC), Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN), and RenoMark. As a Carpenter, you will perform a variety of duties that include constructing and repairing building frameworks and structures, such as stairways, partitions, and rafters made from wood and other materials. This role also includes installing kitchen cabinets, siding, and drywall.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Follow blueprints and approved building plans to meet the needs of municipal personnel, engineers and architects
    • Construct concrete formwork for footings and foundation
    • Construct staircases
    • Place and finish concrete for concrete formwork using overhead and line pumps
    • Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and roofs using wood and other materials
    • Help erect, level, and install building framework with the aid of rigging hardware and cranes
    • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows
    • Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures
    • Instruct and provide guidance for Carpenter’s Assistants and General Labourers
    • Other related duties and tasks

    Requirements & Qualifications

    A potential candidate must have their high school diploma

    Candidates must have, at minimum, Professional Red Seal Certification issued by the Canadian Construction Association

    Must have Canadian Apprenticeship Certification or be enrolled in Canadian Apprenticeship Certification program

    Must have experience in a related position for a minimum of 5 years

    Candidates must have excellent communication and management skills

    Candidates must have safety conscious attitude

    Your own, reliable form of transportation

    Fall Protection Training, Forklift Operator Certification, Zoom Boom Ticket, WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) Training, and Occupational First Aid Certification are an asset, but not required.

    Additional Details

    Carpenters work primarily outdoors, in all weather conditions. Extended hours are routinely required during peak construction periods. There is some risk of injury involved in working on construction sites. Carpenters must wear personal protective equipment (e.g. hardhats, safety vest, steel-toed boots, and eye protection) and follow safety programs and legislation.

    Carpenter's-Assistant

    The Position                                                                                                          

    Carpenter’s Assistant (Full-Time)

    FirCrest Developments Ltd. is a Licensed Residential Builder, A+ BBB accredited business, and widely recognized brand in the Greater Vancouver area. Additionally, FirCrest is a member of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC), Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN), and RenoMark. As a Carpenter’s Assistant, you will perform a variety of duties that include directly assisting the site’s Carpenter with related tasks of preparation and installation. This role requires a strong familiarity with the tools and materials used on a project, as well as the basic principles of construction.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Build forms, scaffolding, shoring, and braces
    • Cut timber and lumber to specified dimensions
    • Assist in framing walls, floors, and roofs
    • Place and set slabs and sidewalks
    • Unload materials from trucks when required
    • Assist site Carpenter in all other related duties and tasks

    Requirements & Qualifications

    The nature of this work will appeal to those who enjoy being physically active, working outdoors, and using hand and power tools while working in an occupation that provides a visible sense of accomplishment.

    General Labourer (Full-Time)

Additionally, FirCrest is a member of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC), Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN), and RenoMark. As a General Labourer, you will perform a variety of duties that include the preparation and clean up of construction sites, moving materials and equipment, and performing demolition, excavation and compaction activities.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris)
    • Excavate, backfill and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes; operate tampers)
    • Place, consolidate and protect cast-in-place concrete or masonry structures (e.g. use concrete vibrators)
    • Assemble and dismantle forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, barricades on construction sites
    • Drill concrete, install rebar dowels on construction sites
    • Demolish buildings
    • Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement
    • Other related duties and tasks

    Requirements & Qualifications

    The nature of this work will appeal to those who enjoy being physically active, working outdoors, and using hand and power tools while working in an occupation that provides a visible sense of accomplishment

    Candidates must have experience in a related position or experience on a construction site for a minimum of 1 year
